In office I interact with Americans and Spanish guys.
Its not easy to understand them. No don't get me wrong. They are not being sarcastic. Its not there accent. Its not there pronunciation. But its there watchamacallit. exactly.
All these new words "not in English dictionary' throws me off guard. But since I am fortunate to have lovely colleagues. They help me out. So I thought let me make a list of all of them and I will frequently update it.
1) watchamacallit - What should I call it(chuckle chuckle).
2) Dang - Bang or Bingo.
3) Humor me - no no don't tell them a joke. It might mean. tell me or Show it to me. Well to tell it in a context. I had a problem with lotus notes. Well it was not launching. I called up this tech support guy and he said lets switch on a net meeting and you can humor me huh!!!!.
4)my husband's fav- Are you done with your food? " No, am working on it". No they are not building a pyramid out of their food.
5) My personal favorite- Bajesus. Well Catholics are not to take Jesus's name out without using a prefix. So they call him BA Jesus.
6)Run by me - No no Keep aside those sneakers.. He means..Can you tell it to me.
7)Father-in-law's fav- Do you want some more curd? No am good. If you eat curd you wont become bad? ahmmm y did he say that? Question mark Question mark.
8)Its all BS - Bull Shit hehehe.

Wats up?
I was reading blogs of my friends, family, Amitabh Bachchan, Serena Williams and so on.. it reminded me of my own. As I sit here on my couch, I try remembering what I used to call my blog. A smile and lot of head scratching later "lost-changesinlife". Was so lost there ahah ding ding.. To think that I once thought, will be a big blogger with huge audience, did not think my posts would be so less frequent Or as one friend calls me regularly irregular.
So as the title says "Whats up". Well to be silly would be "the sky is".
And AM NOT!!!! hah.
You want up.. So here it goes. Apart from routine work in a beer company. Ahem!! Burp @@***** I have a latest fetish toward cooking. Thanks Mom-in-law. Its been a week and everyday I cook something new. Yes :)my inertia towards new dishes have gone poof!!. Well nothing of the exotic is made. But different to "Mr Tastebud or should say buds"
Since my now so obliging husband helps me in cleaning, shopping and even cooking (as I blog, he cleans the bathroom)I want to keep him happy. Heard somewhere that "pet kush tho admi kush" or in language most of you understand "To enter a man's heart is through his stomach" "????" yes its a tested theory.
So for guys who are thinking what I cooked. well Aloo parata today, South Indian pulao, North Indian pulao, Gobhi Manchuri, Pudina bath. Surprisingly all of them turned to be real tasty. (well told you was not exotic). Bottom line "Whats up" would be well happy and well fed Husband and Wife.

Going out of Business.
I was walking through 5th avenue, NYC. To my shock almost in every block there was either a store "Going out of business" or " Space available".
So I was thinking is this a opportunity or loss? Because Going out of business means good deals for good price "SALE" and Space Available means space to open a new sub-way, or pizzeria or any thing I want for a subsidized rent. On the other hand THE BIG PICTURE loss of jobs, no more stuff from those stores which I had cherished before or the deals which I might have got it because of GOB or SA which leads to "No Return" or "No Exchange".
let me list some stores that I know have gone out of business.
1) Circuit city went bankrupt.
2) Starbucks had announced sometime back that they will close some stores in NYC.
3) Ann Taylor also announced to close some stores(117 ?).
4) GAP :( as well.
5) 3 Manhattan post offices will soon go out of business.

hmmm the list goes on actually. Considering we are just in the 17th month of recession and FYI The Great Depression went for 43 months...

Adharam madhuram
Story behind me to put this devotional song about Lord krishna on my platform is.. As a child I had entered myself in this Bhakti Sudha competition and had to sing Adharam Madhuram.. The song went beautifully when I started and before I had completed the judges had decided that I would be getting the first prize. Buttttt last stanza was not my piece of cake I totally forgot the lyrics and sang the last but one stanza again. To my dissappointment, parents and the JUDGES I was disqualified. At that time it was so disappointing.. Now if I look back gives me a quite laugh :).
Wondering how I got to know what those judges had decided??? My mom was standing next to the judges and was eavesdropping on theire conversation. Funny yea???

When do you realise that now you are a grown up?

The thing which told me that am a grown up now, is well!! Something silly, Nooo actually something cute.
As a child I had loved this movie Edward Scissorhand. And that impression stayed on for a very long time as one of the best movie made ever. Until recently when my husband asked me to order some good movie on netflix which we are a member of now. So I remembered how much I had enjoyed Edward Scissorhand movie as a child so ordered it. I pepped up my husband saying, you will actually thank me for recommending you this movie and blah and blah.. (You know sometimes I can be blah)
Ten minutes into the movie OMG what is this? Am not enjoying this at all. Infact I started digging my brains to come up with counter arguments which will definitely happen with S. Am sure he will make fun of me. I rack my brains and come up with "I played a prank" but shoo it away because his counter argument will be much more stronger as to why would I go to this extent. When am having all these arguments in my head , S is looking at me and going hahahahah "You and your recommendations" :( .. Thats when I realised, The movie which gave me so much pleasure back then is boring me... Oh man !! Where did time go now?? Am all grown up :(.. Miss you childhood :( . I realised that I am one, What about you??

A day with TV
Do we still consider TV as the idiot box?
Being affected by the current economy and sitting idle without a job. Thought to dedicate a day to TV. Hmm I just did not realise that time just flies by when you are in front of it.
Early morning at around 8:00am I switched on the Idiot Box for some magical fun. Yeah literally. There is this show called
"Charmed"
about these 3 sisters "witches" and their everyday life along side with demons, goblins and angels. Its from 8:00-10:00am yeah 2 hrs of magic fun. From 10:00-11:00am
Ellen degeners Talk Show..
I hope I got her name right. Man she was entertaining with her tiny little game shows and her guest being themselves without any dialogue delivery. Was fun to watch her bring out the best in people. 11:00am came, time for some surfing so was switching back and forth with
"the view"
ie Barbara, Whoopi and three other girls talk about current affairs and have a guest who is involved with them,
"MTV"
some ongoing latest songs. Oh Now am a fan of Ne-Yo 'Miss Independant" and Lady Gaga " Just Dance". At 12:00 time for some family values
"Full house"
A serial about a father raising his 3 daughters by taking help of his best friend Joey and his cool dude brother-in-law Uncle Jesse. its about an hour. So after an hour of Full-House, being all touched and conscious about not giving my time to family called up my sister, mother and husband. So that was the break I took to cook, clean, talk and eat.
At 2:00 I was back. Now it was time for more magic. Since childhood I was into Archie-comics and there is a character in that series called
"Sabrina - the teenage witch"
who has magical powers. Based on that cartoon character there is a TV show which airs from 2:00-3:00pm. Its all about this teenager Sabrina who has to manage her day to day life with learning magic at home, learning physics, math etc at her school, boy friend and cheerleaders whom she detests. 3:00 -4:00pm was time for some news
CNN, FOX and BBC-news.
Here I got to know that a)Mr US elected President Obama should not carry his blackberry after he gets into the whitehouse for some security purposes, b)California fires are doing a great deal of damage, c)Automobile Giants GM, Ford and Chrysler want to be bailed our or else 13 million jobs are at stake and d)Weather will get further cold. After this heavy feeding on news thought to check entertainment again 4:00-5:00
"what I like about you"
is about these sisters Jenni Garth and Amanda Bynes where Jenni is in her late 20's who is looking for love and managing career at the same time and Amanda is a teenager who is going to school and having petty fights with her friends and boy friends. After that light comedy time for some kicking demon butt. Yes-
Charmed
again 5:00 to 6:00.
6:00-7:00 "Everybody Loves Raymond"
a comedy serial. Sometimes I can relate to my ownlife. Its about this Goofed up sweet character Raymond ,his wife Debra and 3 kinds, Raymond's mother Marie (character in herself), dad and Raymond's brother who is jealous of Ray for everything that he is. 7:00-8:00 Sienfeld. Oh man this is so hilarious. Its about this guy Jerry Sienfeld and his 3 unique friends and their life. I cant say much about this cause anything I say would be too little and wont do justice to the show.
8:00 - 9:00 Family Guy.
What can I say hahahahaha.. You should watch it to understand what I was saying. Its about this Fat Guy named Peter and his funny family.. Love the baby Stewie in this series. Hmm
9:00 to 11:00 watch news,
cook, all together. a)Learnt if the automobile idustry is not bailed put the amount of people coming out will be equal to people living in Kentucky, North Carolina and hmmmmm " fill in blank" . b)Economy just going down, Obama saying that he will do something with the economy in 100 days. c)Stock marker falling crazily. Sadest story was a second hand crysler being sold for $1. d)8yr old involved in killing and again e)weather "COLD".
11:00pm exhausted. What did I do all day? Just watched some TV. But still managed to watch
Sienfeld and Family Guy
together till 11:30pm. By this time my eyes are sore so fell asleep on the couch.
Today morning woke up. All refreshed and thought should I do it again. Do I have it in me? Naah. But one thing changed ie my opinion towards TV. Not an idiot box but a Friend :)because it taught me family values, entertained me for so long, told me about current affairs soooo am I wrong here?
